Submission Instructions

Article ideas should be submitted as a brief abstract and estimated word count through the LM SharePoint page. MarCom will send out an email reminder as the submission deadline is nearing.

  • If you will be writing about work that has received Cooperative Agreement funding, or if your salary is funded by CoAg funds, please include the CoAg number and the funding amount in your idea submission.

  • Each program can have up to two articles in the magazine. While less is usually more, if both articles are going to be two pages, we will make room for them!

  • Your approximate word count is important for resource planning purposes. If you note that your article will be 600 words and you submit a 900-word article for consideration, odds are that editing will attempt to get that article down to 600 words to fit the allotted space.

  • Please include how many photos/figures you may be submitting. If you are planning on submitting 2-3 images or graphics, then your word count must be 500 words or less.

  • The “From the Bench” section in Lab Matters is for member-authored articles. If you will be submitting an article on behalf of a member, please mark it for the “From the Bench” section.

  • If you will be co-authoring an article with a member, please include their name(s) in the “Description” field on the SharePoint site. These articles will go into your program section, not “From the Bench.”
