Welcome and Agenda Review

Riki Merrick

  • First of set of monthly calls (can increase frequency if needed) 12:30 - 1 PM on Mondays

  • Any other agenda Items?

Organizational Structure

Riki Merrick / Keith Cambell

  • Have created the Strategic Plan - it is in the final stages, so time to re-organize the Committees whose goal it was to write the plan into Committees that can support the implementation of the individual components of the plan

  • Depending on how we organize (are we a formal or informal organization - see next topic) we may need to consider the structure of the committees, representation and governance

  • How we make the strategic plan real – which one on the private, which on the public side

NEXT STEP:

Create a confluence page for new committee structure = Organization of Committees for Implementation

NOTE: The confluence pages do NOT require log-in and anyone can edit, but that also means the program cannot attribute statements made - so if you care to make sure folks know it is your contribution, include your name/initials with it!

Naming of SHIELD

Riki Merrick / Keith Cambell

  • What do we want to be, when we grow up?

  • Are we a collaborative or a partnership?

  • “Co-Lab-orative” would be the fun name 😊

  • How formal?

  • Are there legal implications with each of these terms?

    • That needs to be determined

  • We are a partnership and have formal documents – or it is an informal partnership without formal documentation?

  • Do we enumerate the organizations involved?

  • We have always been an open group – we don’t want to add processes to make joining harder, if not needed

  • We should still write out how we want to organize ourselves

    • What does it mean to be a member – obligations and benefits

    • MDIC went through that process – Riki will reach out to get some more info on how they did it

    • Making sure we have process to get meaningful input and review

NEXT STEP:

Create a confluence page to collect info about partnership / collaborative difference and other hings we can learn from what other organizations have already done

NOTE: The confluence pages do NOT require log-in and anyone can edit, but that also means the program cannot attribute statements made - so if you care to make sure folks know it is your contribution, include your name/initials with it!

Update on Strategic Plan

Riki Merrick

  • Is back with the small writing group after last feedback received last week Friday - hope to have the final verison out to everyone soon

  • Shared the prior version of the plan (before Committee feedback) with ONC and had a slide presentation / discussion session

  • Similar session planned for CDC tomorrow

  • It is time to share the plan in the ecosystem

  • Will share is with the larger SHIELD group to allow orgnaizations to review and support/endorse

Quick decisions not requiring context or tracking

For quick, smaller decisions that do not require extra context or formal tracking, use the “Add a decision…” function here.

    Decisions requiring context or tracking

For decisions that require more context (e.g., documentation of discussion, options considered) and/or tracking, use the decision template to capture more information.
