Considerations for Partner Selection
There are some critical points for a public health laboratory (PHL) to consider when approaching a test-ordering partner to engage in this initiative. The criteria below should be considered and discussed with the Detor team before engaging in any implementation.
Criteria for Consideration |
|
|---|---|
Volume of Tests | Detor is an ideal solution for high-volume use cases. This is especially true for an initial implementation; lower volume use cases may be added on over time, with less effort.
|
Impact | Detor impacts include:
If there are specific organizations or use cases where these improvements would have a significant impact, they should be prioritized. |
Scalability/Reusability | Detor is designed to be reusable. A public health laboratory should prioritize use cases/tests that are reusable with multiple healthcare partners. Because Detor is intended to replace multiple direct connections it should be used with multiple partners for maximum efficiency. |
System-Readiness | Is the partner organization planning any major system upgrades in the next 6 months or migrations in the next 18 months? If so, it would be more beneficial and effective to wait and engage with them after those projects are complete. Does the partner organization’s system meet these basic functionality requirements? |
Resource Availability | Does the partner organization have the necessary resources available to dedicate to this effort for the duration of the implementation. If an external EHR or LIMS vendor will need to be allocated to the project, do they have the budget to dedicate to ensure their support? See Roles and Responsibilities to confirm. |
Pandemic-Readiness | Is the HCO in this implementation a potential submitter of high-volume tests in the event of a public health emergency, such as a pandemic? |
