Project Overview

Increase communication regarding SHIELD initiatives between Federal Health agencies and SHIELD partners. Identify and assess further opportunities for improving the adoption of SHIELD initiatives through the coordination and sharing of SHIELD related services and resources between agencies and partners. Champion the integration of SHIELD practice into current developing laboratory domain ecosystems. Identify opportunities and make recommendations for research related to laboratory interoperability practice within SHIELD.

Items in scope:

• Develop rational and leverage capacity of SHIELD partners including each federal agency. Work with CDC and CMS to find more sticks and carrots to support SHIELD implemented, work to align data reporting requirements across the government to reduce burden on clinical reporting entities. HHS and NIH in this collaboration.  Also should be sure we keep an eye on the FHIR IGs folks are developing around results reporting – for PH reporting we may be able to leverage a different dataflow at some point (between PHAs and Feds for example) 

• Develop strategic alliance with HIE to support implementation efforts and tracking.  Coordination with implementation and M&E committees  

• Subcommittee -- Industry subcommittee: IICC. Work with industry to ensure accurate application to coding to all equipment and related training material so that coding flow in an automated way
