• Andrea reviewing clinician specimen list

  • Many cancer pathology terms are missing from the Specimen CMT

    • May need to add additional terms to CMT or add guidance to existing terms

  • Issues seen:

    • terms with tumor (brain tumor)

    • specific lymph node (lymph node IV)

    • mixing specimen type/specimen source/procedure in one term

    • adding more qualifier values than what is available in pre-coordinated terms

  • Issues more with how clinicians are specifying specimens than how terms are mapped in SNOMED. Having mapping behind the scenes in EHRs should help

• In general the call is intended as a forum for ANY messaging related issues to work out.

• In the past we have

  • reviewed containers re-vive that - and how does that interact with devices (UDI identification?)

  • review code systems around additives (HL70371 and SCT substance and product hierarchies)

  • started work on cross-mapping between HL7 method codes and SNOMED CT procedure / technique concepts

    • American College of Surgeons is working on procedure protocol and synoptic data elements / surgical synoptic reports - we could work with them together on that
