Informatics Policy Engagement

Policies that are set by federal agencies such as CDC, ONC, CMS, and FDA can have a significant impact on public health workflows. APHL partners with its members, as well as with the Joint Public Health Informatics Taskforce (JPHIT) and several NGOs, to advocate on behalf of public health laboratories and agencies to ensure the needs and priorities of public health are taken into account as the federal government sets rules and regulations. This space serves three purposes:

  1. To educate members on current and upcoming policy decisions that impact public health.

  2. To provide a space for members and partners to collaborate, review, and provide input on policy discussions.

  3. To provide tools and resources for public health partners to respond to new rules, regulations, and policies that impact public health informatics.
