AIRA
12/16/25 - Internal Discussion
AIRA mentioned possible project opportunities and areas of collaboration between APHL and AIRA during HIT-2 comment review (JPHIT).
We should create a space, begin understanding the ask.
IZ Gateway and TEFCA. Not much more is known at this point.
TEFCA – defined purposes of use. Overall public health purposes of use; two use cases – ELR and eCR. No immunization use case yet.
Just host IZ Gateway product on AIMS. Payload is encrypted as it comes in and goes out. It’s unencrypted in IZ Gateway.
AIMS is in discussions with eHealth Exchange to expand TEFCA data beyond eCR. ELR would be a good start. Reluctant to start with immunizations since it’s not a defined use case yet.
IZ Gateway receives data from PHAs; facilitates state-to-state and CDC reporting. TEFCA is data exchange with healthcare. IZ Gateway's data exchange purpose is out of scope. ELR is more on target with TEFCA.
ELR is the preferred starting point for Keith.
Other Exciting Ideas
Workstream - Public Health Data Works Grant
Working on PPRL - AL tried to get PPRL implemented for Immunization data stream going to CDC. If we get PPRL as a service on AIMS, could be of interest to AIRA.
PHII - EHDI machine learning application - want AIMS to host. Will discuss in early 2025. Data science for missing clinical audiology reports - key concepts for public health reporting. May be some funding to support that.
